Lisa Gumm Airlifted after Motorcycle Accident on Highway 26 [Calaveras, CA]
Rider and Passenger Injured in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 4
CALAVERAS, CA (April 22, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, 54-year-old Lisa Gumm was airlifted after a motorcycle accident on Highway 26.
The incident happened around 2:40 p.m., just east of Double Springs Road. Emergency crews arrived to the area shortly after.
According to police, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on the highway. For reasons unknown, Leslie Simmerman, 61, crossed over the double yellow line and hit a a 2020 Ford Transit Van in the oncoming lane.
The Ford was driven by 30-year-old Gaberiel Kinney, of Modesto.
Emergency responders arrived and found the Simmerman and Gumm with major injuries. Both were airlifted to a local trauma center for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Kinney was left unharmed.
Investigators encourage witnesses to cooperate and reach out as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
When crossing a busy intersection, exercise due caution. Always activate your turn signal or blinker before making any turns. Be aware of your blind spots and pull into the roadway slowly. If you are turning in a road where there is no dedicated left-turn signal or lane, be patient and make sure there is no obstruction to your view.
